These 23 images were made to decorate trash and recycling containers in the Alex Thomas Plaza in Ukiah, CA in 2021. Funded by North Coast Opportunities’ LIstos/EPIC Preparedness program in collaboration with the Arts Council of Mendocino County and the City of Ukiah. Each mosaic is 30” square.

Art from the Ashes
The 2017 Redwood Complex Fire burned hundreds of homes, destroyed lives and disrupted our Northern California community in so many ways. Raybee, in collaboration with Nori Dolan, a mosaic artist whose home was lost, offered free workshops for fire survivors, She then led the designing and construction of this Art From the Ashes mosaic mural and arranged for four Fire-related art exhibits in Ukiah and Redwood Valley on the one year anniversary of the fire. The mural can be seen on the front of the Redwood Valley Grange, which was the epicenter of community assistance during and following the fire.
Fort Bragg Coastal Trail
Mosaics of eleven local creatures were commissioned by the City of Fort Bragg to enliven the patio around the restrooms installed for hikers and bikers along the 2017 expansion of the Coastal Trail. Molly Johnson was my assistant in making and installing the mosaics.
